    Application

    Olmesartan is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Olmesartan belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily.

    General Description

    Olmesartan medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist which is used for the treatment of high blood pressure. It was developed by Sankyo in 1995, and is sold under the trade name Benicar, among others. An ester prodrug, it is completely and rapidly hydrolyzed to the active acid form, olmesartan.
